Previous research
When I was in high school, I saw the movie Hotel Rwanda and decided to pursue a career in international politics and conflict studies. Later, I became interested in the use of mineral resources to fund conflict and human rights abuses (so-called “conflict minerals”) and began researching “business and human rights” norms. My major research interest is how international norms are diffused and implemented locally.
Current research projects
Broadly speaking, I deal with the international politics of “business and human rights” norms. I am currently conducting a policy review on the implementation of norms, including audits and certification mechanisms, as well as on norms regarding businesses in conflict-affected zones.
