APLセミナー(アジ研パワーランチセミナー)

APLセミナー(アジ研パワーランチセミナー)は、アジア経済研究所の研究者のみならず、外部の研究者、学生の方にも参加いただけるリサーチワークショップで、お昼の時間にアジア経済研究所（海浜幕張）の会議室で開催しております。

研究所内外における研究者の方の研究成果、研究活動の中間発表を行っていただくほか、発表者と参加者、あるいは参加者相互のディスカッションを行います。テーマ、講師に応じて日本語あるいは英語での発表、議事進行となります。
——参加ご希望の方は、研究所受付にて「APLセミナーに参加」とお伝え頂き、開催場所まで直接お越し下さい。——
セミナー終了後、受付で渡される「面会確認票」にセミナーの司会者から署名を得て頂きますよう、お願い申し上げます。
なお、ランチとありますが昼食は出ません。

In this paper we determine the main driving forces underlying the structural transformation and urbanization process in rapidly industrializing countries. We use a dynamic, small open economy model with an abundant supply of surplus labor in rural areas, two types of traded goods man-ufactured in urban areas, and barriers to both trade and migration. The model is supplemented with quantitative analysis …tting the data from China, to explore the role that reductions in trade and migration barriers played in China’s growth and urbanization. We …nd that the primary drivers for real per capita GDP growth are migration cost reduction and skill accumulation. While trade liberalization is important for urbanization during the transition toward China’s admission to the WTO it does not contribute much to real per capita GDP growth. During this transition process, migration cost reduction and TFP changes are also important, accounting for a signi…cant proportion of increased urbanization.
