Accountability of the Legislature and Executive Branches in Arab Gulf States (2017_2_40_008)
Outline
This research project aims to determine the factor which causes different consequences regarding the accountability reforms under authoritarian regimes with incomplete political participation and actual elections to promote the realization of democratic governance or to sustain and strengthen the control by incumbents. To achieve this, we analyze the case of the Gulf Arab countries, especially Kuwait, from the viewpoint of the correlation between the "strength" of the opposition’s regulated degree of political participation and the holding of actual elections by and responsiveness of the government.
