Tracing China's Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Pollution Sources in Global Value Chains (GVCs): Region, Firm and Household Heterogeneity

Outline

This research aims to trace China's value-added, greenhouse gas emissions and pollution sources simultaneously in global value chains with full and consistent consideration on domestic regional, firm, and household heterogeneity information. The relevant empirical results can help better understand how the activities of different types of firms and the behaviors of households with different income and lifestyle in China impact environment at both national and regional levels in the context of global value chains. Relevant policy implication concerning China's sustainable development and international environmental governance will also be discussed. This research is in close collaboration with the Institute for Contemporary China Studies at Tsinghua University. This research is jointly conducted with ICCS and Tsinghua University.
