Management and Employment in the Rural Informal Sector in Vietnam
This study aims to address the characteristics of the development of rural industrial clusters in Vietnam. The study focuses in particular on small-scale household enterprises, referred to as "craft villages," in Northern Vietnam. The study attempts to conduct micro-level analysis of 1) the processes of industrial cluster formulation in rural areas and 2) management strategies of informal sector household enterprises. The study also tries to reveal 3) the socio-economic and institutional factors that enable the enterprises to employ such management strategies and 4) impact that the development of rural industrial clusters has on rural economies.
