Rising New Social Strata in Vietnam after the Year 2000
Outline
Vietnam has experienced high economic growth, an increasingly advanced industrial structure, and globalization from the beginning of 2000s. During this period, many kinds of economic opportunities emerged in both urban and rural areas. These economic changes may cause to rise to diversified social strata that are separated by income, occupation, power and other factors. This research focuses on the rising new social strata that emerged after the 2000s and can be regarded as the "upper class", and it examines their attributes and formation. The diversification of the "upper class" in Vietnam today and the periodization of the social strata movement will be explored. In addition, this research aims to study the characteristics of the upper class formation in Vietnam compared to other countries.
