The Fall of “China and Southern Bank”: A Setback and Restructuring in the Bank of Taiwan’s Southward Strategy
This paper elucidates how the “China and Southern Bank” (joint stock bank between the Bank of Taiwan and overseas Chinese merchants) tried to develop the Southeast Asian market and subsequently collapsed, as a reflection of the Japanese southward strategy in the Taisho period.
