FY 2013/2014 Research Topic: C-17
State-Formation and Conflict in Côte d’Ivoire
This study aims to elucidate the historical background of the political instability that has continued chronically in Côte d’Ivoire since the 1990s, by way of examining the two major problems concerning its national identity and distribution of farmland. In this study, these problems are considered in a historical perspective, which covers a century from the colonization to the present day. This project will contribute to a deeper understanding of the nature of an Ivorian state, and also identify the challenges for stability and peace building in this country.
