2014 Elections of Indonesia: 10-year Yudhoyono Presidency in Retrospect, New President in Prospect

This research project aims to analyze the contemporary political economy of Indonesia. In particular, the study focuses on two themes. First, we examine the achievements and outstanding issues under the 10-year Yudhoyono government. Second, we analyze the parliamentary and presidential elections to be held in 2014, as well as the process of forming the new government. Combining historical, theoretical, and field studies on the Yudhoyono presidency and two important elections, this research will provide analytical insights on the current political economy of Indonesia and prospects of the newly democratizing country and rapidly growing economy.
