Conditions for land accumulation by private farm in Vietnam
Private farms are the agricultural entities that cultivate relatively large-scale land, while most agricultural producers in Vietnam today are small-scale households that own less than one hectare on average. Vietnam’s Government has encouraged the development of private farms with suggesting that the household economy is the basis of private farm development from 2000. In fact, the number of private farms has increased since then. However, the entities that accumulate land are not necessarily agricultural households. The objective of this research is to explore the conditions for land accumulation by private farms in Vietnam, and to identify the constraints for agricultural households in accumulating land.
