FY 2013/2014 Research Topic: B-106
Study on the Current State of Manufacturing Industries in Bangladesh

Outline

Bangladesh, earlier perceived as a typical example of a stagnant economy, has now transformed into one of the potential growth centers following BRICs. In Japan also, there has been a growing interest in Bangladesh as a destination for investments as well as a competitive source of imports. The country’s manufacturing sector is one of the main areas of interest. However, related information is still few and far between, except for that on the readymade garment industry. In this project, we intend to gather basic information about important manufacturing and related sectors, primarily through studying the leading firms in each sector.
