Community Based Organizations and Civil Society in Rural Africa

Outline

The aid policy of international donors for Africa expects the contribution of “civil Society” organizations as complements of some roles of governments in developing countries. There is a lot of debate about the application of the concept of “civil Society” to societies in Africa because the concept is derived from Western culture. This research project aims to analyze the current situation in the rural society in Africa through focusing on the transformations of the States and societies which raise the discussions about “civil society” in Africa.
