Life Security System for the Elderly in the Emerging Countries

Outline

While Japan has been experiencing accelerated ageing of its society, the East Asian and Latin American emerging countries also are passing the similar process, although their speeds are very different by countries. There are a lot of problems related to ageing of the societies; one of the most important issues is poverty of the aged people. In this study project, we analyze the situation of poor aged people and how their life is supported. Public assistance, community assistance, family assistance and work of aged people will be analyzed. We will study on the cases of South Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, South Africa, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Cuba.
