China’s Sustainable Development: Overcoming the Limit of Resources and Environment

Outline

Will China overcome resource and environment constraints, and grow sustainably? Will the market mechanism help to solve the constraints? Will China shift in growth pattern from quantitative expansion toward qualitative one? We investigate the current conditions of the resource and environment constraint and measures by the Chinese government, and aim to have a view of sustainability in economic growth. To do them, we cover wide range of related topics: supply and demand trends in energy, coal, oil, and minerals etc, rush for water and land resource and its shortage, water and air pollution and its measures, effect of energy saving, introduction of environmental regulation and its impact to industry, current conditions of recycling-oriented economic system, foreign investment for resources and its impact to world economy, and so on.
