Qualifications

  • Ph.D in one of the above fields (Including if you are expecting to obtain the degree by the time of employment).
  • Any nationality is acceptable.
  • Good command of English (reading, writing and speaking). The language of instruction is English, but competence in Japanese language is desirable.
  • How to apply

    1. Required documents

    1. Curriculum Vitae with photograph pdf. Please make sure to specify the research field for which you are applying in the CV in English or Japanese.
    2. Essay describing your motivation for applying for the position (Typed on one sheet of A4 sized paper in English or Japanese)
    3. List of your academic publications, research papers/monographs, and academic works (in English or Japanese).
    4. Letter of recommendation from a professor/senior research fellow in your university/institute or any related professor/senior research fellow, if possible.
    5. Academic transcripts from university (including post-graduate programs. Copies are acceptable, but must have been issued within a year.)
    6. Certificate of graduation and degree (including for any post-graduate programs. Copies are acceptable, but must have been issued within a year.)
    7. Copy of Ph.D. dissertation.
    8. No more than two reprints or copies of major academic publications (books) or research papers/monographs in a refereed journal (in English or Japanese).
    9. Abstracts describing your Ph.D. thesis and no more than two major academic works (Typed on one sheet of A4 sized paper each).
      (For g, h, and I, please submit two copies.)
    10. Self-addressed stamped envelope (24 × 33 cm) to allow us to inform you of the results, with a 120 yen stamp attached. If you are applying from abroad, we will prepare an envelope if you enclose an address sticker with your name and address. Please note that application materials will not be returned (except books).

    2. Submitting your application documents

    • Send your application and all relevant materials to the address printed at the bottom of this page. On the envelope, clearly print “application material” in red.

    3. Application period

    • From October 26 to November 12, 2009 (Must arrive by November 12)

    Evaluation procedure

    1. First screening: examination of documents
    2. Second screening: interview and presentation in English or Japanese (to be held in the middle of December).
    * Further details will be sent at the beginning of December to successful candidates of the first screening.

    Employment period

    Employment will begin on April 1, 2010.

    Compensation

    Salary will be determined on the basis of age and work experience, as per organizational regulations. More information can be provided by request to the e-mail address below.
