International Conference on Productivity and Growth in Africa and Asia
The international community has signed a compact known as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The implication is that by 2015, the world aims to meet eight major goals, including those of eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, reducing child mortality, achieving universal primary education and halving the number of poor. The attainment of the MDGs requires sustained growth driven by productivity gains. With a special focus on the African context, the aim of this Conference is to better understand the factors behind productivity growth and how African can learn from the Asian growth experience.
